On invitation of the Municipal Gallery in Velenje, Slovenia, in 2006 Darko Lesjak prepared an elaborate light installation titled "Atmospheric Microcosm" for the rooms of the gallery. During the two-year planning and development process, he produced several works made with alkyd resin and alkyd paints on acetate film for mounting in the large windows of the gallery.

The images show Lesjak's constant exploration of nature and man and his need and ability to realize all existence in its various configurations. From the constant, invisible flow of natural processes of creation, the Panta rhei, becoming manifest life in the perceptible world, he tries to pause for a moment. Reflecting inward and outward, he transmits the atmospheric microcosm into his works with the help of light and form.
He thus creates a holistic visual structure, which shows various nuances depending on the prevailing lighting conditions both inside and outside the building.
