In the project Bio Cotton (2009 - 2011), Darko Lesjak leaves his familiar expressive artistic path and with new unconventional means draws attention to the global challenge of ecological sustainability and the responsibility of man for nature.
The artist uses elaborately produced canvases made of individual, industrially produced, eco-friendly cloth bags. He consciously dissolves the previous function and individual effect of the linen bag as an article of daily use and uses its visual design as a visual element. The cloth bags printed with company logos and advertising texts are unsewed by Lesjak under the idea of recycling, combined to new compositions (sewn) and composed with realistically presented motifs into an impactful artwork.
